A Pop-up Market allows us to create a unique environment that engages customers and generates a feeling of relevance and interactivity. RVAg does various Pop-up Markets throughout the season at several different venues.
We also provide Chef’s Demos and will bring our own outdoor kitchen, which is permitted by the Virginia Department of Health. Classes and workshops are forming now for the 2019 season!
In 2018, we offered several Pop-up Markets in Western Hanover at Woodside Farms, at the 55+ Community of Chickahominy Falls. We plan to offer a LOT more Pop-up Events & Workshops starting in 2019. Make sure to sign up for our newsletter to stay up-to-date!
Past Pop-up Markets – we have had several pop-up markets in past years, including several at Aw Shucks Country Store, and one at the fire station in Fife, which offered double SNAP dollars and free cookware (via raffle) to low-income shoppers. In 2016, we were part of a collaborate effort led by RVA Food Collaborative that offered a mobile farmers market to low income food deserts. RVAg will be hiring the refrigerated truck and driver, stocking the truck with fruits and vegetables from our own market vendors, and delivered them to Western Goochland. We worked with an association of churches and the Department of Social Services to get the word out, and offered our SNAP IT UP! Double Value SNAP (food stamp) program to customers in Western Goochland, which is the largest food desert in Virginia.
Stay tuned for news about more upcoming Pop-up Markets & Special Events!
